Resources

Some of my favorite books:

Almaas, A.H.  The Pearl Beyond Price:  Integration of Pesonality into Being:  An Object Relations Approach.  (Here Almaas integrates spiritual and psychotherapeutic tradtions.

Almaas, A.H.  Luminous Night's Journey

Almaas, A.H.  Facets of Unity:  The Enneagram of Holy Ideas.

Brown, B  Soul Without Shame:  A Guide to Liberating Yourself from the Judge Within.

Cameron, Julia.  The Artist's Way:  A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity.

Cameron, Julia.  The Vein of Gold:  A Journey to Your Creative Heart.                                                                                           Gawain, Shakti.  Living in the Light and Creative Visualization.  Both books are wonderful for learning how to use visualizations and affirmations to have positive, powerful thoughts.

Goldberg, Natalie.  Writing Down the Bones:  Freeing the Writer Within.

Greenough, Millie.  Oasis in the Overwhelm.

Katie, Byron.  A Thousand Names for Joy: Living in Harmony with the Way Things Are.  This wonderful lady has designed a wonderful, simple method for questioning our beliefs and assumptions, which is absolutely essential to cultivating an attitude of gratitude.  No one I know of is a more grateful, peaceful, and joyful person than this wise woman.

Mellin, Laurel.  The Pathway.  This book helps us learn how to deal with “external solutions” such as overworking, overeating, substance abuse, etc.  Mostly, it’s about learning how to manage our emotions. For those who implement the skills in this book, the results are absolutely revolutionary.  These ideas and the resources offered by her insitute have profoundly improved my life.

Kabat-Zinn, Jon.  Wherever You Go, There You Are:  Mindfulness Meditation in Everyday Life.    To learn more about being mindful, this book is a wonderful place to start.

Kabat-Zinn, Jon.  Full Catastrophe Living.  Comprehensive, covers all the bases.

Ponlop, Dzogchen.  Mind Beyond Death.  From the back cover, "With profound understanding of the Western mind and warm informality, The Dzogchen APonlop Rinpoche makes the mysterious Tibetan teachings on the bardos--theintervals of life, death, and beyond--completely available to the modern reader."

Ruiz, Don Miguel.   The Mastery of Love:  A Practical Guide to the Art of Relationship.  Dr. Ruiz wrote another book with which you may be familiar, The Four Agreements.  Both are lovely to read, profound in their messages.  Everyone who wants love in her or his life (and of course who doesn't?) should read The Mastery of Love.

Schneider, Bruce D.  Relax, You’re Already Perfect.  The title says it all.  And it’s true.

Schneider, Bruce D   Energy Leadership:  Transforming your Workplace and Your Life from the Core.

These two books are from the founder of iPEC, the coaching school from which I obtained my certification.  Bruce's idea of how to change your life are powerful and anyone can implement them, but having a coach will help!

Tolle, Eckhart. The New Earth.

Tolle, Eckhart.  The Power of Now.

Tolle, Eckhart.  Even the Sun Will Die.  This is a recorded interview recorded on September 11, 2001, which gives Eckhart's message special poignancy.  His writings are all about the "miracle that happens when you say 'yes' to living fully in this moment.  I don't think there is any more important message for us.

Young-Eisendrath, Polly.  Women and Desire:  Beyond Wanting to Be Wanted.

Young-Eisendrath, Polly.  The Self-Esteem Trap:  Raising Confident and Compassionate Kids in anAge of Self-Importance.

Young-Eisendrath, Polly.   You're Not What I Expected:  Learning to Love the Opposite Sex.

Young-Eisendrath, Polly.   The Resilient Spirit.

I can't say enough good things about Polly and her books, of which I have listed only a few. They have been enormously helpful to me.  Visit her website for lots of her wisdom about parenting and for living.  http://young-eisendrath.com/
